Job Description
The Australian Embassy and Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Vienna is offering a number of internships of three months, unpaid, across the multilateral and bilateral policy sections throughout 2019.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain an insight into the operations of a busy multilateral and bilateral Post. You will develop research, reporting, program development, public diplomacy and digital communication skills, mentored by Australian diplomats. There may be opportunities to participate in external meetings with multilateral organisations, bilateral partners and other external stakeholders.
This internship is offered for three months at various time periods throughout the year.
Duties and Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:
Attending, taking notes and drafting reports of multilateral meetings.
Researching information across the multilateral, bilateral and public diplomacy fields.
Arranging meetings across a range of areas.
Monitoring and reporting on developments of political, economic and/or foreign policy issues in Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Kosovo, Slovakia and Slovenia.
Assisting with preparations and program development of official visits.
Drafting content for the Embassy’s Webpage and Twitter accounts.
Engaging in outreach activities.
Event planning and events administration (preparing invitations, managing guest lists etc.).
Responding to general enquiries about Australia.
Job Requirements
We are seeking interns who are postgraduate students or undergraduate students who have successfully completed at least four (4) semesters of their course.
Candidates who are completing studies in international relations, politics, economics, or communications are encouraged to apply.
Internships are unpaid and open to all nationalities. Travel costs and living arrangements, including visa and insurance coverage, are the responsibility of the intern. The Embassy will provide eligible applicants insurance coverage for accidents occurring in the workplace only.
Should your application be successful, you will be required to complete relevant police checks before commencement.
Please note that exact dates of internship will be discussed during the interview process and that interns will be expected to assist across both the multilateral and bilateral agenda in response to work demands.
